Paul was the preeminent example of faith and doctrine. he believed wholly in Christ and lived an example for those he taught. He encourages those whom he teaches to follow his example. This sets the stage for many of the themes in 1 Timothy regarding church leadership and qualifications. Although we have right doctrine laid out for us in this book, the emphasis is on proven character and obedience.
